Ingredients

  • 1.8 lb of medium semolina

  • 0.5 lb of date pate

  • 1 bowl of melted butter

  • 1 oz of sugar

  • 2 tbsp orange blossom

  • 1 tsp cinnamon

  • 1 pinch of salt

  • Honey

  • Frying oil

Preparation

  1. In a large bowl, combine the semolina, salt and sugar. Add the butter and work the semolina, crushing with your hands. Add lukewarm water and knead to obtain a smooth and homogeneous paste.

  2. While the dough rests a little, mix the date paste, cinnamon and orange blossom, to make the sausages.

  3. Take the semolina dough and also form sausages by rolling it on itself. Split the sausage in the middle and introduce the small rolls of date pasta. Then weld the edges and smooth. We can make small drawings on the makrouts. Then cut them out in the shape of diamonds.

  4. Immerse the Makrouts in hot oil so they color on both sides.

  5. Dip them in honey, drain them then let them cool.
